          Description


          Duphalac has a hyperosmotic laxative effect, and it also stimulates intestinal peristalsis. The remedy improves the absorption of phosphate and Ca2 + salts, contributes to the removal of ammonium ions. It helps to stimulate the peristalsis and affect stool consistency.

          Duphalac is used for the following conditions:

          bullet_ball_blue Softening stool for different medical purposes such as hemorrhoids, operations on the colon or anal operations;
          bullet_ball_blue Hepatic encephalopathy (it is used for treatment and prevention of dangerous hepatic coma and precoma);
          bullet_ball_blue Severe intestinal dysbiosis;
          bullet_ball_blue Enteritis caused by such bacteria as Salmonella, Shigella;
          bullet_ball_blue Putrefactive dyspepsia syndrome (the disease of infants received from acute food poisoning).

          Contraindications and Precautions

          Contraindications:

          bullet_ball_blue Severe sensitivity to the active component or fructose, galactose, lactose;
          bullet_ball_blue Severe galactosemia;
          bullet_ball_blue Ileus.

          Use it carefully if you suffer from diabetes. Duphalac can be used without restrictions by pregnant and lactating mothers.

          Absorption of the remedy is low. Not being absorbed, the component reaches the large intestine, and afterwards splits intestinal flora. It is completely metabolized at doses from 45 to 75 ml; it is partly left unchanged in larger doses.

          Side Effects

          The side effects are rare but they may appear. During the first few days of intake it may cause:

          bullet_ball_blue Flatulence (continuing for 2 days);
          bullet_ball_blue Strong abdominal pain;
          bullet_ball_blue Severe diarrhea.

          As for overdose, when misusing this drug, the following symptoms may occur:

          bullet_ball_blue Abdominal pain;
          bullet_ball_blue Severe diarrhea may also appear.

          Treatment of the overdose: if you experience any of the abovementioned symptoms, it is inevitable to contact a medical professional, then Duphalac should be discontinued or the dose should be lowered.

          Take These Important Facts into Consideration

          bullet_ball_blue In the absence of a positive therapeutic effect during 2 days or resumption of constipation as a result of the treatment, you should consult a doctor for advice;
          bullet_ball_blue Patients with lactose intolerance should be aware that this remedy contains lactose. Talk to your doctor if you have such intolerance. Maybe it will be necessary to decrease the dose or refuse from taking the medication at all;
          bullet_ball_blue The dose which is normally used during constipation should not cause problems for people with diabetes. Doses which are used during the treatment of dangerous hepatic (pre) coma are always much higher than the usual ones, therefore, they should be additionally checked when prescribed to patients who suffer from diabetes;
          bullet_ball_blue Long-term treatment (longer than 6 months) with large doses of the drug must be conducted according to the doctor’s recommendations;
          bullet_ball_blue The remedy has no effect or only a negligible effect on a person’s ability to drive a car and manage machinery.

          If you take the remedy according to the prescription and doctor’s recommendations, you will have no adverse reactions and be satisfied with a positive effect. Do not increase the taken dose without doctor’s recommendation.
