          Importance of Taking Diflucan Correctly

          Diflucan is used by people to treat and prevent different yeast and fungal infections, and it belongs to a group of meds called azole antifungals. Basically, this medication works by stopping the growth of specific fungus types.

          General Instructions on How to Use Diflucan

          This medicine should be taken orally, both with and without food, but patients need to follow the guidelines of their doctors. Most of them are prescribed to take Diflucan only once a day, and their regular doses depend on specific factors, such as their health condition and personal response to this kind of treatment. When it comes to children, their regular dosage is prescribed according to their weight, but it shouldn’t exceed 600 mg a day to avoid overdosing. It’s not allowed to stop using Diflucan too early, and you need to take this medicine at the same time on a daily basis.

          Possible Unpleasant Symptoms

          This medication may result in specific side effects, but most of them are mild and don’t cause a lot of discomfort. Some patients may end up with such unpleasant symptoms as:

          bullet_ball_blue Diarrhea and nausea;
          bullet_ball_blue Stomach pain and upset;
          bullet_ball_blue Vomiting and dizziness;
          bullet_ball_blue Headaches and hair loss.

          In very rare cases, the use of Diflucan causes serious adverse effects, including:

          bullet_ball_blue Irregular and fast heartbeats;
          bullet_ball_blue Yellow skin and eyes;

          When you notice any of the above-mentioned side effects, call your doctors at once and get emergency medical help.

          List of Basic Precautions when Using Diflucan

          Before starting this treatment, inform your doctor about any other pre-existing medical conditions and drugs that you’re taking. For example, your physician needs to know whether you have any possible allergic reactions and such diseases as kidney and liver problems, heart ailments, etc. It’s not advisable to combine the intake of Diflucan with water pills and diuretics if you suffer from vomiting, diarrhea and sweating. Besides, this medication can make patients feel dizzy, so that they’re not allowed to drive or do other things that require their full attention, to be on a safe side. Another important precaution is to limit the consumption of different alcoholic beverages and tell doctors about other chemical products that you use. Older patients are more prone to developing unwanted side effects, especially diarrhea, vomiting, rash and some others.

          In addition, Diflucan shouldn’t be taken together with specific medications because of a high risk of having dangerous drug interactions. Make sure that you don’t combine it with clopidogrel, macrolide antibiotics, pimozide and other drugs that may have an impact on your heart rhythm. Drug interactions should be avoided because they lead to a range of health complications, including reduced effectiveness of medications and severe side effects, so inform your doctor about other pills that you take.
