Compazine is a medication taken by patients to treat severe vomiting and nausea caused by cancer treatment, surgery, etc. Basically, it belongs to a group of meds called phenothiazines, and its intake is not recommended to children. Older patients with dementia aren’t recommended to take this medication, too, because of a possible risk of serious side effects, including pneumonia, irregular and fast heartbeats. That’s why Compazine is not advised to treat any dementia-related behavioral issues. Patients need to take this medicine orally, 3-4 times a day, with and without food. Their daily dosage is prescribed by doctors based on their age, individual tolerance and medical condition.
